James Mansfield MCIEEM
James' passion for nature began from a young age on woodland walks with family and birdspotting with his dad, which he now loves doing with his own son.
His work in the ecological sector began while working in an animal sanctuary where his love for wildlife and nature bloomed. From there he became a bat carer, handlin
James Mansfield MCIEEM
James' passion for nature began from a young age on woodland walks with family and birdspotting with his dad, which he now loves doing with his own son.
His work in the ecological sector began while working in an animal sanctuary where his love for wildlife and nature bloomed. From there he became a bat carer, handling all UK native species of UK bat, before beginning a new career as a junior ecologist. His consultancy work led to entering the world of planning with a role in Somerset Council which grew to becoming the Principle Ecologist.
As a co-author of Somerset Council’s BNG Guidance Note and the former Principal Ecologist for Somerset Council, our Director, James Mansfield, brings direct insight into what local planning authorities expect when reviewing ecological reports, BNG submissions, and habitat bank proposals.
James gained his Class 2 survey licence for bats along with a possesion licence, before achieving his Barn Owl licence. Most recently, James has completed the River Condition Assessment course with Cartographer and is working towards his Class 3 and 4 bat licences.
